DRGC Free Seed Library

Established in 2024, the Deep River Garden Club’s Free Seed Library aims to foster community resilience and address food insecurity by providing a free public source for high-quality, diverse seeds.

The DRGC Free Seed Library is housed next to the Deep River Public Library’s parking lot and is open on a seasonal basis.

We believe in cultivating not only plants, but a resilient and partnership-driven community.

FAQs

Are the seeds really free?

Yes! The Deep River Garden Club sources seed donations from a variety of companies for the purpose of providing them free at cost to you. Seeds are for personal use only, and not for resale.

Is there a maximum number of seed packets I can take?

The DRGC Free Seed Library operates on an honor system. We ask that you only take the seeds that you will be able to plant this year. If you take a seed packet and don’t end up using all of the seeds, please tape it shut and return the remaining seeds to the Free Seed Library so another gardener can use them!

Where do you get the seeds?

The Deep River Garden Club sources seeds from a variety of companies, including Baker Creek Heirloom Seed Co., etc. We also rely on donations from our supporters and fellow gardeners!

Can I contribute my own seeds?

Yes! Kraft paper envelopes and pencils are included in the DRGC Free Seed Library for this purpose. In order to help your fellow gardeners be as successful as possible, be sure to write the variety of seed and any important planting information on the front.
